Green Development Standards are in addition to the Building Code. The Building Code is designed to ensure buildings are safe, have proper fire protection and meet energy standards. Green Development Standards protect ground water sources, help mitigate flooding, make a neighbourhood walk-able and mandate energy efficiency.
